The Nintendo DS shipped in 2004 with two screens, one of them a touch panel, plus a microphone and a wireless radio. It was sold as an experiment alongside the Game Boy line and went on to become one of the best-selling consoles ever made.
Its library is defined by developers finding uses for that second screen: map and inventory in the Castlevania entries, stylus-only control in Phantom Hourglass and Kirby: Canvas Curse, and the brain-training and Professor Layton titles that pulled in an audience that had never owned a console.

Both screens are rendered together, stacked vertically by default. You can switch to a side-by-side layout or focus a single screen from the player settings.
Click or tap directly on the lower screen — your mouse or finger acts as the stylus. Microphone-based puzzles are skipped automatically where the game allows it.
